Zachary Moore
Hi everyone! My name is Zach, and I am originally from Land O’ Lakes, FL, which is a small suburb about 20 minutes outside of Tampa. I actually have been in the Durham area for quite some time because I attended Duke University for my undergraduate degree as well! In undergrad, I majored in African and African American Studies as well as minored in French and Music. In my graduate career, I hope to continue to focus on African-American Studies, as I one day hope to become a professor in the subject. Some of my interests within this field pertain to music, history (in and outside the US), and language. In fact, I have a passion for learning languages, so you may hear me listening to international music or perhaps recommending international TV shows! This passion also applies to watching a bunch of European soccer leagues ( I am a massive Arsenal fan)! My goal within the GLS program is to network with people of varying backgrounds, as I believe it will only help to open my mind even further, as well as bring myself one step closer to achieving a master’s degree with the intention of getting a Ph.D. afterward. I hope through conversations and classes with future professors and mentors that I will be able to curate my future career goals. Beyond anything, I hope to one day contribute to young minds in the classroom! I look forward to exciting class discussions and topics as well as having an amazing first year of graduate school within the GLS program!
