Samantha Post

Hello! My name is Samantha, and I was born and raised in New Jersey. For the last three years, I lived and worked in Jersey City. I am a teacher by trade and enjoy crafting my own interdisciplinary curriculum within the realm of Social Studies. As a teacher, I value motivating students who may not find value in “school” to find value in learning. I also value teaching skills that enable students to critically interpret history, the world around them, and how they fit into it. Personally, I love to discover new things, whether it be new ideas, stories, places, or food. I am constantly on a quest to expand my worldview by reading books (I just finished Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI), traveling to different places (this year I climbed a volcano in Indonesia, and road-tripped through Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana), and cooking new things (I make my own bread, butter, kombucha, and am always experimenting). My personal life and academic interests are interconnected, as I enjoy using academic frameworks to question and examine my own experiences and the world around me. For example, while completing my undergraduate degree, I was living in France. In an attempt to process my political and cultural surroundings, I completed an undergraduate thesis that critically analyzed French religious law and its intersection with French identity and cultural oppression. As I build a life for myself in the United States, I reflect constantly on the benefits and challenges of living in this country – particularly, how history, culture, identity, and health intersect – and ultimately, how to build healthier and happier communities here.
