Jayce McCain
Hello everyone. I am thrilled to begin this journey. My name is Jayce McCain. I am from Sacramento, California so I am very new to this area. I finished my undergrad at California State San Marcos in San Diego. I was a student-athlete there for the men’s basketball team and was also involved in the student-athlete leadership program. I love basketball and my life has revolved around it. When I was not playing growing up, I was always engaging in it in some way. I spent this past summer working with the team as a graduate assistant for the Duke Men’s Basketball Team. I will continue with this position throughout my time here in the GLS program. If you are interested at all in the basketball team, I would be more than happy to discuss it. My end goal is to become a college basketball or NBA coach. During my time in the GLS program, I would like to focus on African American history, but I am open and willing to learn about numerous other topics. My brother is Jared McCain, he plays for the team here at Duke. He is an incoming freshman and it is an amazing opportunity to be at this prestigious university with my younger brother. Excited to meet everyone.

What movie or television show that you watched recently would you recommend to the rest of us?
I don’t watch television or movies that often. I do not have one.
Coming to the Duke GLS program, I hope to...
challenge myself, meet a different demographic of people and acquire a wealth of knowledge.
Please recommend a song to include that speaks to how YOU feel as you embark on this new learning journey. It could be something that you’re listening to a lot now or a longtime favorite that captures the moment for you.
